How does it work?
The Nutritional Therapy Consultation Process provides personalised advice in order to meet the individual client’s goals. This is a combination of environmental influences, systems matrix, antecedents, triggers and mediators.
Some people simply want to check that they are on the right track with regard to healthy eating. Others may want to lose weight or get help with their symptoms.
Nutrition and lifestyle approaches to healthcare have been shown to support the health of all the major systems of the body (skeletal, muscular, nervous, respiratory, cardiovascular, digestive, endocrine, immune and reproductive). Typical priorities in nutritional therapy consultations include support to achieve optimum energy levels, healthy blood sugar balance, emotional and psychological wellbeing, optimum gastrointestinal health and tolerance to a broad range of food groups.
Before the initial consultation
You will be asked to complete my Nutritional Assessment Questionnaire and a 3 day food diary. This gives me a clear idea of your health concerns, symptoms, potential nutrient deficiencies, lifestyle, stress and activity levels, food preferences and so forth.
During the consultation
The initial consultation takes approximately 1 hour, during which time a thorough analysis of your medical history, diet and lifestyle is undertaken. The aim is to identify how diet and lifestyle may be contributing to your presenting symptoms and health conditions.
Depending on our findings I will put together a realistic protocol aimed at supporting your body’s own natural healing ability. Time constraints, budget and cooking ability will be taken into consideration. All changes are jointly agreed between client and practitioner.
You will receive a tailor-made plan designed for your specific needs which may include supplement advice, meal plans, recipes, lifestyle advice, shopping list, fact sheets, helpful books/websites and so on.
A follow up consultation is scheduled generally 3-6 weeks after your initial visit to review your progress and/or move to the next stage of your plan.
Generally, 2-3 consultations should help put you back on the path to good health. Further visits can be beneficial for those who have challenging illnesses or who find it difficult to stay motivated.
