When Food Makes you Unwell

When Food Makes you Unwell

I truly believe that food is medicine and that good nutrition is one of the foundations for health but what if foods make you feel very ill or contribute to symptoms of poor health?

This can happen because of an allergy, an autoimmune condition or a food sensitivity all of which are very different issues.

In my latest article for EUMOM  I try to answer some of the questions I often hear when it comes to this topic.  Here’s the link https://www.eumom.ie/experts/nutritional-expert/how-to-find-out-if-you-have-a-food-intolerance.

If you are experiencing any of the signs and symptoms in this article and you suspect that a food might be a causative factor then get in touch.

  1. Hi Ciara. I have a daughter with a peanut allergy. She is under the care of a dietician. We were told that an allergy can develop at any stage in someones life and not just from infancy as outlined in your article. Is this correct? Thanks

    • Hi Cathy, you’re right. An IgE allergy can develop later on in life though this is less common and it’s not clear why this happens. For example, someone can suddenly develop an allergy to a food that they previously eaten without an issue.
